About the First Book Blog

The First Book blog is a place where we can share stories about First Book projects, successes, volunteers, recipient programs, authors, publishers and other partners with our followers. We try to post things that will interest our readers, and we try to provide regular updates so you can keep up with the important work that First Book does all over the country.

The First Book staff celebrating Read Across America DayWho writes this stuff? The blog is often written by our communications staff, but other First Book staffers (including Kyle Zimmer, our president and CEO) share their thoughts from time to time.  We also try to feature guest blog posts from interesting people in the worlds of literacy and education.

Get in touch: If you’d like to comment on our blog, or contact us with a story idea, email us at communications (at) firstbook.org. Or drop us a line in the comments section of a blog post, our Facebook page or our Twitter feed. You can also learn more on our website.

Who we are: First Book provides new books to children in need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy – access to books. An innovative leader in social enterprise, First Book has distributed more than 100 million free and low-cost books in thousands of communities.
