Give a Bouquet of Books this Mother’s Day

May03

Rochee Jeffrey Written by Rochee Jeffrey

Our moms are often the first people to teach us how to read and our first “librarians”. That’s why First Book loves moms and we LOVE celebrating all of the wonderful moms in our lives on Mother’s Day.

Every year, millions of us purchase a bouquet of flowers to honor the mothers in our lives. This year, why not celebrate her with a bouquet of books?  Make a donation to First Book in the name of a special mom in your life, and send her an e-card to let her know you were thinking about her. We’ll use your donation to continue providing new books for children in need.

It’s Not Too Late to Give New Books to Kids in Need

Provide new books to kids in need by donating to First Book

Sunday is New Year’s Day, which means a lot of taking stock, figuring out what you want to do and how to finish all the things you meant to do last year.

We hope that one of the things you choose to do before the New Year is provide new books to kids in need by including First Book in your end-of-year giving.

Click here to donate now, and provide new books to kids in need

This year, with your help …

  • First Book distributed 8 million books to kids in need.
  • First Book added 7,000 new schools and programs to our national network.
  • First Book started local volunteer chapters in over a dozen communities.

The new books we distribute to schools and programs around the country do more than put smiles on the faces of children whose families can’t afford books of their own. They provide teachers, librarians and program leaders with the resources they need to transform these children’s lives.

We’re able to do all that we do because of the help and support of our donors and volunteers; we want to say thank you and ask you to continue supporting our mission.

Don’t Forget Dad!

Written by Becky H.

It’s that time of year again!  Time to celebrate all those fathers, grandfathers and uncles that help make our lives wonderful. With Father’s Day only 10 days away, we know you are pondering that age-old question: “What should I get dad this year?”

Before you go running to buy dad another tie, another set of golf clubs or one of those generic Father’s Day gifts, think again!  This year, help give the gift of literacy by making an online donation to First Book in honor of your dad, grandfather, or whoever you may chose.  Once you make your donation you can chose an e-card to send directly to that special man in your life.

Your donation will go a long way to help kids in need open the pages of their very first book and the doors to a brighter future.  And while we can’t make any promises, we are also pretty sure it will make your dad grin from ear to ear. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and help spread the magic of reading this Father’s Day.
