About the First Book Blog
The First Book Blog was started in spring 2006 to let people get a day-to-day glimpse of the work that First Book does. We write about a wide variety of topics — everything from details of our latest book distribution, to commentary on our favorite books.
About First Book
First Book is a nonprofit organization with a single mission: to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books. Through hundreds of local Advisory Boards, the First Book National Book Bank, and the First Book Marketplace, the organization provides an ongoing supply of new books to children participating in community-based mentoring, tutoring, and family literacy programs. First Book has provided more than 50 million new books to children in need in thousands of communities nationwide.
What Is A Blog?
A blog is a website that is updated frequently with short posts, or articles, which are listed chronologically (with the newest posts at the top). It can be written by one author or several authors.
Who Writes the First Book Blog?
Nearly all staff members at First Book participate in the blog in some way. More than 30 different First Book staffers have written blog entries, along with guest posts from a few of our volunteers, partners, and supporters. Each blog post lists the name of the person who wrote it.
