July 31st, 2007 by Diane N. · 1 Comment

Could your state be the next to receive a special distribution of 50,000 new children’s books from First Book? This is your chance!

For the last eight weeks, First Book has been asking readers everywhere to help us celebrate our 50 MILLIONTH book given to children in need by telling us what book got you hooked on reading, then voting for the state you’d like to see receive the next 50,000.

Vote Now. Voting closes at the stroke of midnight. Results — including a Top 50 list of the books that got your votes as well as the announcement of the winning state — will be posted on August 1.

My first love of books has to come from the Dr. Seuss books. I still enjoy the rythym of the rhyme and how nonsense made sense. I enjoyed waiting to receive each book in the mail because it was tangible, just for me- my “chat” (chattel),as my granny would say. I have written poetry for years now and even named one of my daughters Devin (means poet). There is, I believe, a rhythm in every book you CHOOSE to read. It’s what catches you and draws you into the plot, you own it with every anticipating beat of your heart.
