First Book Meets K.M. Grant

July 10th, 2007 by Teresa P. · No Comments

Katie Grant Book SigningI had the pleasure of meeting K.M Grant, author of Blood Red Horse (the first book in the de Granville Trilogy), while she signed copies of her books at the First Book booth during BookExpo America. BEA was the last stop on Katie’s US tour before she headed back home to Scotland — and, as I’m sure you can tell from the picture, we were all getting a little punchy by the time BEA was wrapping up!

I was fascinated to listen to Katie speak about her writing process and how she comes up with her story lines. Her next novel, How the Hangman Lost His Heart, which will be published in October, was inspired by her own family’s history. The story tells the colorful history of her great-great “Uncle Frank,” who was the last man in Britain to be hung, drawn and quartered. According to family legend, his head had been passed down for generations before finally being re-united with the rest of his body. Of course, the Marie Antoinette wig made Katie’s stories all the more fun!

We were thrilled to have Katie join us at BEA — special thanks to everyone at Bloomsbury/Walker Books who helped to make it possible!
