Recently, I had a chance to hang out with author Shannon Hale, a Newbery Honor winner and author of five award-winning young adult novels, while working at the First Book booth at BookExpo America.

Shannon took some time out of her busy BEA schedule to sign copies of her bestselling, Newbery Honor book Princess Academy as well as advance copies of her new young adult novel, Book of A Thousand Days at First Book’s booth. Shannon’s many readers, fans and admirers lined up to meet her and receive a signed copy of her books.

In addition to her many honors, Shannon is a warm, intelligent and hilarious mother of two — she even brought the newest member of her family, Maggie, along for the signing. I had a blast getting a chance to meet Shannon and hear about her writing and what’s coming up next for her (PS – Shannon’s first adult novel, Austenland, is on sale now – be sure to check it out!).
