Though you wouldn’t guess it from the snow flurries, it is spring in Washington, DC and that means the Cherry Blossom Festival!

This week, First Book joined our partners at the US Coast Guard at their booth down on the waterfront to share the word about First Book and all of the great work that the Coast Guard does to help us in our mission. As the Coast Guard’s signature charity, they have supported First Book’s National Book Bank by providing volunteer support and warehouse space across the United States.

First Book staff had a great time meeting the members of the Coast Guard, talking with the public, and even dancing to the music with “Officer Snook” the Coast Guard’s mascot. The weather may have been frigid, but he kept the party going with his dance moves!
