Our Favorite Posts
I had a blast chatting with Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart during the Children’s Book Week 2006 podcast-palooza and enjoyed hearing about their fantastic pop-up books. – Katie
My favorite post to write was Fortress of Illiteracy about my visit to a monastery in Kyiv, Ukraine. I was on vacation, far from DC, not thinking about work, and the idea for the post just popped into my head. I wrote it within a few minutes on my flight home. – Erin
In Full Bloom, by Katie, for its lyrical description of the DC singer/songwriter Eric Meaney; for the clever assonance of “in bloom at noon;” and for capturing the spirit of a classic First Book staff outing. – Diane
My pick for favorite post is Chicagoland and Beyond from Jeff. He was in Chicago with Rachael and Gerard and talked about all my favorites from home, including Portillo’s! He also included pictures and video, and there’s even a comment from Kim George at the North Lawndale YMCA offering to treat First Book to Chicago style hotdogs on our next trip to Chi-town. I think we’ll have to look her up whenever we make it there next. – Stephanie
I really liked Dave’s post on Towel Day. I can’t believe I’ve missed celebrating it all these years! – Katie
I love to hear First Book travel stories so Where in the Gulf Coast is Lynda? is one of my favorite posts. - Nicole
My favorite post to write was the 10 Reasons to Save 10% — it was really fun to hear what other staff members were looking forward to reading or adding to their shopping lists. – Katie
I really liked Erin’s The Bus Stop because it reminded me of the many ways that books can bring people together. – Clarissa
It’s Not Every Day You Go to Work in Your Pajamas. The Karen Neuburger “Books at Bedtime” campaign was one of the first cause-marketing campaigns I worked on here at First Book and so has a special place in my heart. It was great fun to see it come to life in Theresa’s great photos and post. – Diane
I especially like to read posts that give me a glimpse into the lives of my coworkers, such as Stephanie’s A Day in the Life of a Social Enterprise Fellow. – Clarissa
I liked Rachael’s post about our Recipient Group C.U.D.D.L.E.S. Their name alone makes me smile but I was sold with the picture of the toddler with cheeks perfect for pinching. – Nicole
My favorite post to write was About The Political Dr. Seuss. It was really neat to learn so many interesting things about Theodor Geisel, and then to share his fascinating story with others. – Clarissa
Tick-Tock, It’s a Book Clock. Life imitates art. The clock is now hanging in our conference room — a daily reminder of Erin’s blog post and general genius. – Diane
I absolutely loved The Green Eggs and Ham post that Dave wrote! It is great to work with a group of colleagues that would actually make Green Eggs and Ham for a Sunday brunch! – Erin
My favorite post to write was A Rookie at BEA. It was my first First Book event and I was caught up in all of the excitement of BookExpo America and the fun of sharing the First Book story. – Nicole
