Over the course of our 15 years, First Book has been recognized by social sector publications, foundations, entrepreneurs, and major corporations for our work giving new books to children in need.

While praise and accolades aren’t what motivate us, it’s always nice to know that your efforts have been noticed. It means a lot too, when such mention comes from outside the social sector, from people and organizations not in the business of comparing nonprofit organizations.

That’s one reason our staff was so excited yesterday when First Book appeared in the “Everywhere” edition of the DailyCandy email newsletter! Our staff may represent a wide spectrum of age, interest, and background, but one thing many of us share in common is a healthy enjoyment of this daily email newsletter. From this mention, we saw a increase in traffic to our website and received contributions to distribute hundreds of new books to children in need.
