“YOU!” are Time’s Person of the Year

December 27th, 2006 by Nicole T. · No Comments · General

Recently, Time Magazine announced that their Person of the Year for 2006 is “YOU!” The article says that 2006 was

“…a story about community and collaboration on a scale never seen before. It’s about the cosmic compendium of knowledge Wikipedia and the million-channel people’s network YouTube and the online metropolis MySpace. It’s about the many wresting power from the few and helping one another for nothing and how that will not only change the world, but also change the way the world changes.”

At First Book, we launched our way into the “new web” this year with our First Book blog to build a community of friends and partners concerned about children’s literacy. We’ve had a lot of fun writing about the work we’ve been doing across the country.

But we couldn’t declare our blog a success without “YOU!”, our readers! Whether you’ve been with us since the launch, or you just found us today, we’d like to thank “YOU!” for being a part of our community and helping us change the way the world changes. We look forward to sharing more stories with you in 2007!
