First Book Podcast with Martin Waddell
November 19th, 2006
Katie B.
I recently had the honor of speaking with award-winning children’s author Martin Waddell, who is widely regarded as one of the finest contemporary writers of books for young people. Some of Martin’s books include Can’t You Sleep, Little Bear? and Farmer Duck, both of which were awarded the Smarties Book Prize. Recently honored with the 2004 Hans Christian Andersen Medal for his important and lasting contribution to children’s literature, Martin Waddell has now written more than 100 books for children and young adults.
Listen in as Martin shares some insights on his own work and writing process as well as gives some advice for adults reading aloud to children. As an extra special treat, Martin even gave me a sneak preview of one of the books he is currently working on! Be sure to download the interview to hear all about it.
Our sincere thanks go out to Martin for joining us and to our friends at Candlewick Press for making this interview possible.
Interview length: 42:34
