Borders National Benefit Days — The Numbers Are In!

Written by Diane N.

GREAT news!! A few weeks ago, Borders announced a national benefit promotion to raise funds for First Book. Together we asked customers, friends, partners and supporters — you — to help by shopping at Borders and Waldenbooks stores throughout the country over the last weekend of August. Well, all told, the promotion raised… drum roll, please… more than $270,000 for First Book!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for participating. This couldn’t have happened without thousands of people walking into the stores and using the specially branded coupons. A contribution of that size ultimately means that hundreds of thousands of new books will be placed into the hands of children in need.

We can’t thank Borders and Waldenbooks enough for once again opening their stores and putting their muscle behind a promotion like this. They have told us of their commitment to connecting books to readers, their passion for literacy and their belief of the power of books in people’s lives. Time and again, they underscore their commitment with their actions.

Thanks to everyone for making the Borders National Benefit Days promotion a great big success and helping to bring more new books to kids in need across our country!
