Mobile AL 2006

April 18th, 2006 by Dave M. · 1 Comment

I just wanted to take a chance to say thank you to all of our volunteers who helped us at our Mobile Alabama distribution last week. Everything about the distribution went well and we have you guys and gals to thank for it. We recieved this thank you shortly after we returned home:

Please let me take this time to thank ou and every one responsible for the donation of books. These books will be used to restore some sense of normalcy in the lives of many children on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Reading is one of the most important things we can teach our children to do and with your donation we will be able to put these books in the hands of many children. God Bless you and your work and again, thanks!

Some more info and a few pictures after the the jump.

I am totally going to jynx this for the next time, but this distribution could not have run any more smoothly. The flights to and from Mobile were quick, (my luggage was among the first off the plane,) and the weather was perfect. We had scheduled 2 full days of heavy lifiting in the warehouse but were done by 9:30am the second day. Except for one small confusion regarding pick-ups, it was a perfect distribution.

Here’s a few photos we snapped while on the ground. “Many hands make light work,” they say; truer words have never been spoken. (click the images for larger versions)

Thanks again to everyone!

Thank you, thank you for all the great books that the Rapides Parish Library has received through First Book’s Book Relief. We have distributed them to individuals, child care centers, Head Starts and families who were in need. The appreciative responses have been overwhelming.
